Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a turn-based combat game for Nintendo Switch that wraps strategy inside an adventure. It is published by Ubisoft, was built by a group of Ubisoft studios, supports one or two players and carries a PEGI 7 rating, so it suits a mixed-age household as well as a solo player who likes to think a few moves ahead. An adventure full of surprises Ubisoft pitches this one as an over-the-top adventure packed with unexpected surprises, and that tone is the point of the whole package. Instead of the usual jump-and-run formula, the game puts you in turn-based battles where every move is planned before it is made. Its genres are listed as Adventure and Strategy. In practice that means you spend your time positioning, choosing your actions and reacting to what the other side does, rather than relying on quick reflexes. It is a good fit for players who enjoy tactical games but want a lighter, more colourful setting than most of the genre offers.
