Pokémon Scarlet is an open-world Pokémon adventure developed by GAME FREAK and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch. It is a boundless journey full of new Pokémon to discover, with a player count listed as up to four. A boundless open-world adventure Scarlet and its sister game Violet share one adventure in an open-world setting. You are free to explore, collect and battle at your own pace, with new Pokémon to find across the world. Scarlet is the version associated with Koraidon, while Violet carries Miraidon, so choosing between them comes down to which one you prefer. The core adventure is the same, and the game is tagged as Adventure and RPG. The adventure is set in the Paldea region, where you attend an academy and are free to choose the order in which you take on the game's three main storylines. A battle feature called Terastallization lets Pokémon crystallise and change type temporarily, giving fights an extra layer of strategy. In Scarlet, the academy you attend is Naranja Academy. That freedom makes the game feel different from earlier entries, because nothing forces you down a single path. You can follow the story, chase a rare Pokémon you spotted from a distance, or simply wander and see what you find.
